Utah is home to a number of wonderful charities whose soul purposes are to take care of the elderly population. Think of your parents and grandparents while you’re showing your support for the charities in and around your Utah community!
Senior Charity Care Foundation
Your donations to the Senior Charity Care Foundation truly make a difference. You can choose for your monetary donation to be given to seniors at a specific facility, but the money is ALWAYS given to help seniors directly, and never given to line the pockets of facilities. Donations are used for things like dentures, rent, glass, and care for seniors.
Utah Co-Op
A very special organization that has added an angel tree to their outreach mission is the Utah Co-Op. They combined their outreach with the well-known Angel Services to add the angel tree to their scope of giving. The Christmas-centered outreach is for needy children, teens, and at risk seniors and adults with disabilities. They call their angel tree program ‘Adopt a Grandparent’- how sweet! You can access the adoption service online and choose someone to provide with Christmas presents.
Utah Non-profit Housing Corporation
The UNPHC works closely with the US Department of Housing, Salt Lake County, and West Jordan City to provide independent living spaces for seniors. The centers allow for seniors to live in independent housing that costs 30% of their adjusted gross income. Not only do the seniors have their own private apartments, but they also have common rooms to enjoy the fellowship of others that dwell in the complex.
Mission Health Services
With multiple locations, the Mission Health Services give more than 2 million dollars annually in care. They have helped elderly and disabled individuals in Utah and Wyoming with rehabilitative care as well as long-term care regardless of their ability to pay. It is the largest non-profit nursing home organization in Utah! Their facilities not only give residents around-the-cock care, but the freedom to choose. Residents are able to eat when and what they want, attend events as they please, and even personalize their rooms. They don’t refer to themselves as a standard nursing home. They prefer their rooms to be looked at as neighborhoods and communities where residents can thrive!
Utah is leading the way
Thanks to the combined efforts of nonprofits that support the elderly, Utah is ranked second in the nation for senior health! Consider donating your time or money to one of the nonprofits that is mentioned above. Help keep Utah on the top of the list for taking care of the generations that came before us.
